I use the computer all the time for art making and keeping in touch with my friends. Sometimes I get tired of creating vector after vector and sending email after email, so I indulge in real paint and handwritten letters every once in a while. I sent this postcard to my friend Stevie.
My friend Emily recently moved to a new apartment. Her internet is still getting set up, but I know I can always count on Gmail..

I decided to join twitter! I'm still figuring out how to use the site effectively.. I have a bit of a tendency to over think things, and in the last few days since joining, I've already had many instances like this:

Hello! I have absent from blog posting for while! I'm getting back into the swing of things by participating in this week's Illustration Friday! I hate neglecting my little blog! More posts to come soon!
Do remember around second grade or so when your teeth were either growing in or falling out? With so much growing and changing in my mouth back then, I had a hard time figuring out how to smile! My school pictures were quite imperfect as a result! These kids are having a hard time with their photos too..

I love books. I love books that are well written. I love books that are well designed. I even love books that are well binded. After taking a couple of bookmaking courses over the past year, I have fallen in love with art of bookbinding! I can no longer pass a book without checking its spine!
I thought I would share two recently made books. I used coptic stitch binding, which not only allows the books to open completely flat but also allows you to play with the design of the thread on the covers! One is a sketchbook for me and the other is a journal for my sister :)
I may never buy another sketchbook again!

Yesterday I accidentally deleted the Picassa Web Album where all my blogger files were stored. OOPS!! After going through my files and external hard drive, I managed to upload them all again (whew), and I also found this little illustration I did a while ago. It seemed to fit this week's theme! Happy Hump Day!

Playing MUSIC is remedy for any mood! I only discovered this recently. I starting learning how to play the ukulele about a year ago. It was my first instrument, and I was so amazed at how beautiful and intimate music making actually is! A few months ago, I decided to get the guitar. It's much more difficult and my fingers sometimes seem too small and weak, but the sound is so lovely, I keep practicing hoping to play well one day!
NB: My guitar isn't actually blue, but I wish it were!

It's been a few weeks since I last participated in Illustration Friday! This week's theme was a little tricky for me, but I had to get back on board. Some summer days are too hot to enjoy, but I always love stargazing at the beach at night with friends! I wish I were at the beach with them right now! Have a lovely week!

I haven't posted in a while because I've been out of the country for the last few weeks! I just got back from Colombia, where I was visiting family, practicando mi espanol, and seeing some sights! I thought I'd share some pictures with you all :)
I've been to Colombia many times before, but the people, textures, colors, sounds, and smells never fail to inspire me :)

I recently finished reading On the Road by Jack Kerouac. Afterwards I wished I could have hitchhiking adventures and travel the whole country with no limitations or thoughts of the future or of obligations, and live of wild life of power and passion! Then I made this pattern :)

I doodled this today in Photoshop as a personal reminder to celebrate each and every day. Some days can feel a little rough, and I forget how lucky I am to live each one out as I do. I will always have more than I need and be surrounded by people who love me. So many opportunities lie ahead! So much to learn and so many ways to grow! The future, though unknown, is bright! A little entry for this week's Illustration Friday! I really love pushing simple shapes :) I actually was working on a completely different idea, but I thought this would be more fun (it was!) I'm trying to be as simple and quick as I can with if entries so that I actually have time to do them! April is going to be a busy month. I have to make sure I can squeeze in some playtime ;)

Hello! It's been raining so much lately! We've had some very stormy days that stole away our beautiful weather here in Sarasota. I don't mind the rain when I can stay inside and watch it and hear it, but it's a bother when you have things to do and errands to run!
I guess I miss the sunshine because I doodled this little sun a little while ago and decided to turn it into something fun! You are my Sunshine is such a great, classic song (I love playing it on my ukulele! .. yes I have one too) but have you ever read the verses? Not quite as sweet as the refrain! Despite the gray skies and rainy days, my days are still sunny thanks to my friends and family! Thank you for being my sunshine :)
